On Thursday, July 17, the municipality of Hoeksche Waard, FULLHOUSE, and Dick Hollaar, representing the Hollaar family, gathered at the site on Molendijk in Oud-Beijerland. At this locationโknown for many years as Modecentrum Bas Hollaarโthey marked the next step in the development of a new residential area by signing a letter of intent. The former retail building and the adjacent parking lot will make way for new housing.
Homes for Different Target Groups
A plan has been drawn up for 68 apartments, around two-thirds of which will fall into the affordable housing category. The homes will be aimed at first-time buyers, people looking to move up the housing ladder, and seniors. Alderman Adriaan van der Wulp commented:
โThis well-known spot in the center of Oud-Beijerland, owned for many years by the Hollaar family, is now being given a new purpose. Itโs remarkable that we are able to realize 30% affordable owner-occupied housing here. This gives starters and young families the opportunity to buy a home at an affordable price, right in the heart of their own village. Additionally, there will be homes for those moving within the housing market and for seniors. This meets the housing needs in Oud-Beijerland and ensures that people can continue living in their familiar surroundings. By redeveloping the former Modecentrum Bas Hollaar, we also tackle vacancy and make this place lively and attractive once again.โ
A Residential Area that Fits the Surroundings
FULLHOUSE is now working on the design and environmental permit. Feedback and ideas gathered earlier will be taken into account in the process. Residents and other stakeholders will remain involved. A second public information meeting is expected later this year. Developer FULLHOUSE stated:
โWeโre pleased to be building new homes at this location in Oud-Beijerland. Together with the municipality and the former owner, weโre creating a residential area that fits the surroundings and meets the wishes of local residents,โ said Tim Wendrich of FULLHOUSE
